Globally, Whatsapp has Banned 8 Million Accounts
In the first transparency report, the company has banned 20,11,000 accounts. In its report, Whatsapp says, From the 2 million Indian accounts, more than 95% of accounts were banned due to unauthorized use of bulk messaging. Whatsapp has also received 345 queries from Indian users who use the wrong redressal methods. The action was taken for around 63 accounts and asked to restore the access or ban the account. According to the reports, Facebook has also received 646 reports through the various wrong mechanisms and has responded to all the complaints. However, from that complaints, 73 complaints were from fake profiles, and 198 complaints were about accounts being hacked. There were 18 complaints regarding abusive content and 22 requests to access personal data by users. The company says the number of banned accounts has raised up since 2019. As the systems have got the experience, so they are catching more accounts. India is the largest market for Whatsapp, and there are 2 billion active users worldwide; from that, around one user is from India out of every five users. Similarly, for Instagram also, users have filed 25 reports of complaints, saying the content that is showing is full or partial nudity. There were 7 reports of accounts being hacked.
