OnePlus to Launch a Smartwatch Soon!
Though OnePlus failed with OnePlus X back in the day, it regained the lost pride in mid-segment by launching OnePlus Nord earlier this month. Watching that success, it’s now planning to enter a new market – Smartwatch. Smartwatches are in the market for a while, and every major smartphone company has launched one already. Google trailed with one back in 2016 when it launched its Pixel and Pixel XL handsets, but scraped it immediately after finding the wearables aren’t a match yet. Even OnePlus has tried this in 2016, but Pete Lau canceled this idea saying OnePlus has polished its smartphone product line very well to make the brand so powerful, thereby launching any other tech gadget under it could be a hit. This worked well with the launch of smart TV and wireless earphones. Also, they decided to pull down as they thought the hardware wasn’t ready and the market isn’t mature yet. But now, after seeing the success of other OEMs and reliable platform developments, OnePlus plans to re-enter the scene. It has listed a wearable in Indonesia’s IMDA website named OnePlus Watch and named as W301GB model. Though the specifications or design of this wasn’t revealed yet, the maker or supplier of this is named as SINOPPEL Device PTE LTD, which was tracked back to found out as Singapore Oppo Electronics PTE LTD.
