The company announced Nokia Circular – a service that’s designed to cut e-waste by either recycling or to donate of your used Nokia phones in the program. Eligible Nokia phones can be leased directly from HMD Global and be returned or upgraded when needed.
Nokia Circular to Reduce E-Waste
At the ongoing IFA event this year, HMD Global took the opportunity to announce a new mobile subscription service for its community – called Nokia Circular – keeping sustainability in mind. Under this, users can lease an eligible Nokia phone directly from the company to be used for a while on the basis of monthly payments. They can return it when desired or upgrade it for a newer mobile by paying a little extra as required. HMD Global recycles this phone to be used for others or its parts to be usable in other devices. Eligible devices in their program include – Nokia G60 5G for £12.50 a month, the X30 5G for £25 a month, the XR20 for £20 a month, and the new Nokia T10 tablet for £10 per month. All these would require a £30 setup fee, and the program is currently available in Europe, with no word on global launch yet. Three of the above eligible devices are new, which HMD Global launched today. The Nokia X30 5G is the flagship model, while the T21 is a budget tablet. And there’s Nokia C31, another budget phone not in the Circular Program. The company has also launched two new audio products – Clarity Earbuds 2 Pro and the Portable Wireless Speaker 2, alongside these handsets. People enrolling in the Circular Program will be given seeds under the Seeds of Tomorrow concept, where you can donate them to various good causes. These could either be spent on planting trees with Ecologi, clearing plastic from rivers with ClearRivers, or helping bring technology to those who don’t have it through Unconnected.
