Android 12 features for TVs
Google’s biggest upgrade will be in the user interface. The Android 12 TV will come with native 4K UI. As of now, Android TVs were able to play 4K content but the UI itself wasn’t rendered in 4K . Google in it’s blogpost clearly mentioned that the Android TV 12 OS will have 4K UI support. This means that the Android 12 TV UI will appear sharper on your 4K smart TV. The search engine giant has also revealed support for dynamic refresh rate switching in Android 12 TV. The App developers will be able to use DRR feature to seamlessly switch between frame rates. Tew Android TV beta update also has a new “Tunnel Mode”. The new mode will make it “easier for app developers to support consistent and efficient playback across devices by reducing media processing overhead in the Android Framework”. Apart from this, Google has also promised two new global privacy settings which will allow keep a tack of which app is using your microphone or camera. With easy toggle, one can allow or restrict microphone or camera access. When those toggles are disabled, apps will be unable to access microphone audio and camera video. This is similar to what the company announced for its smartphones at I/O 2021. Android 12’s Beta 3 release for TV is available as a system update to ADT-3 devices from today onwards.
